Death Notice (Cape Archives) says he was born in London ca 1794, the son of John and Sarah MILLER

Sophia dau of Thomas & Mary Ann MILLER, [illegible] Street, Turner, baptised 21st December 1817 in St.Pancras, London

[It is interesting to note that the entry immediately above that of Sophia MILLER in 1817, on the same day, is that of Emma MILLER, daughter of William and Sophia, as listed in The Settler Handbook. C.T. Campbell, in "British South Africa" (London, 1897) gives, under Mandy's party:
Miller, William, 29; wife Sophia 26; children: Emma 2, Mary 1.
Miller, Thomas, 29; wife Mary Ann 25; children: Sarah 7, Thomas 4, Sophia 2, and Mary Ann 1.]
