John SCOTT, widower, married Frances KEEN, widow, on 5 October 1812 in St.Giles, Camberwell.

Both signed their names.

Witnesses: Stephen KEEN and Sarah ?FORBES

 

Eliza, daughter of John and Frances SCOTT, Golden Lane, mariner, baptised January 10th 1813 in St.Luke, Finsbury

 

Baptisms of Edmund, Henry and Emma not found

 

See correspondence of 1820, where he complained of conditions on board La Belle Alliance, and 1822, requesting a passage back to his wife and six children at the Cape after a visit back to England. Assuming that there was probably only time for the birth of one further child at the Cape in addition to the four listed on the Settler Return, and given that he was a widower when he married Frances KEEN, it is possible that George Dennis SCOTT was John's son by his first marriage
