pre 1820 Settler Correspondence before emigration

ALL the 1819 correspondence from CO48/41 through CO48/46 has been transcribed whether or not the writers emigrated to the Cape. Those written by people who did become settlers, as listed in "The Settler Handbook" by M.D. Nash (Chameleon Press 1987), are labelled 1820 Settler and the names of actual settlers in the text appear in red.

Mr.J.C. WILMOT presents his compliments to Mr. GOULBURN it being suggested to him by the Hon. George LAMBERT to request an interview with Mr. GOULBURN on the Cape Colony business. Mr. WILMOT will feel himself honored by a few minutes conversation with Mr. GOULBURN on the subject at his convenience.

27 December 1819

Mr. WILMOT of Mr. WILLSON's Party to the Cape Colony presents his respects to Mr. GOULBURN and begs to be indulged the favor of inserting in [room of] the names of John WARN and Thomas KELLY on the list already sent in the ones undermentioned, viz James REID aged 36 agriculturalist, unmarried and John DOYLE, aged 20 labourer, unmarried.
