Death Notice (Cape Archives) says that he was born in Suffolk. The baptism of William ALDRED, son of Jabez and Rachel ALDRED, on 7 July 1781 in St.Margaret's, Lowestoft, is unlikely to be that of the settler. That William married a Martha GARDNER in St.Margaret's, Lowestoft, the marriage being witnesed by Jabez ALDRED, and the couple had children born in Ipswich.
