My Lord,

I beg leave to solicit your Lordship will be pleased to inform me whether I may be allowed a grant of land at the Cape of Good Hope or in Canada with a free passage & if Government gives any further encouragement to officers to become settlers in either of those places, as I perceive by the public prints something of that nature is in agitation respecting the Cape.

I have the honour to be your Lordship's most obedient humble servant
