pre 1820 Settler Correspondence before emigration

ALL the 1819 correspondence from CO48/41 through CO48/46 has been transcribed whether or not the writers emigrated to the Cape. Those written by people who did become settlers, as listed in "The Settler Handbook" by M.D. Nash (Chameleon Press 1987), are labelled 1820 Settler and the names of actual settlers in the text appear in red.

Sir

I take the liberty of applying to you for information respecting the emigration to the Cape of Good Hope which I understand is to take place under the sanction of the Gover't. I shall feel much obliged by an explanation as to the nature of the assistance intended to be given with the probable destination of the emigrants on their arrival at the Colony - what other information you can add will be thankfully rec'd. My family consists of four persons, viz myself aged 45 years, wife 39, two sons 16 & 14 years.
