He was killed in action at Rietfontein, Transvaal, July 13th, 1901. He was born in December 1879, educated at Rugby, and entered the Yorkshire Light Infantry in August 1899, being promoted Lieutenant April 1900. He was seconded for service with the Mounted Infantry in March 1901 and embarked for South Africa on the 18th of that month. He was buried at Zand River Poort.
